Children Travel Too!

Not only do children travel today, but they like to travel in style. If their Moms and Dads are using rolling luggage, they want to roll their cases right beside them. Whether they are two years old, or twenty, they want to look like seasoned travelers. And there is a bag designed for all of the age groups. The real young ones, have tiny cases with wheels, made to roll right besides their parents. They are usually available in pink or blue, or the primary colors. The handles are shorter, so they can be wheeled comfortably by the young travelers. These cases will usually be outgrown by the time they are five or six. They will have grown too tall to wheel these tiny cases easily. They also may feel they are too “childish” now.

Lots of companies have designed for the tweens. This represents the group that are older than five or six, but too young to leave home for college. One of the companies had made backpacks for kids for years. They have now entered this market for travelers. The colors are bright and exciting, just as their backpacks. They have colors that will stand out anywhere. The cases are available in slightly larger sizes, but not as large as the luggage designed for college students. The good thing is the pieces all have the good inline skate wheels, and the cases can piggyback a smaller case in front. They also have the important expandable features, handy for longer or shorter trips.

This expansion is also a great feature if they like to bring back souvenirs. The locking luggage pull or push handles allows easy wheeling through busy airport, train and bus terminals. Besides matching backpacks, they have foldable tote bags which also have the slide on feature. This will allow you to wheel the tote on top of the Pullman sizes. It’s very convenient when they can wheel everything by themselves with one hand! For storage, everything will fit inside one another. Another company has introduced Polycarbonate lightweight luggage in bright fashion forward colors. These cases will appeal to all the young-at-heart. They are durable, popular priced, and outstanding at busy luggage terminals.

The duffel market has already targeted children with their bright colors and lightweight cases. You can put everything you need in a duffel. They are easy to pack and easy to pull along. Many also have the locking handle, so they can also be pushed. Some of the duffels now have the piggyback feature, to attach another smaller case and wheel both. The brighter the colors the better. They’ve even made them in a graffiti print. There are so many colors available in these wheeled duffels, each child can choose their favorite. Sizes will range from the 22″ carry on luggage size, to the oversized 42″ case. All of the sizes in between will fit children of any age. Duffels are what they will choose for teen tours, and for camp. They generally fold down flat, making storage relatively easy. Even the college crowd will choose duffels for their dorm. There are models with compartments now, and different packing features. Of course, they still make the big empty cavern, for those that like to take all they own.

With children traveling, it’s important to remember the same good travel rules. Make sure the case has bright luggage tags with their name and address. Keep their name and address and phone numbers, as well as destination address and phone number inside each case. Be sure they are compliment with airline rules. No liquids or gels on the plane except in the three-one-one case. That’s the clear plastic case with three ounce bottles or less, and only one per person. No locks on their luggage except the TSA approved locks. They may be children, but they will be subject to all of the same travel rules as adults.
